A VICTORY against his Thai foe Decho Bankluaygym for the vacant World Boxing Organization Asia-Pacific lightweight crown would pave way for Bobby ?The Sniper? Pacquiao a possible title fight in the US.
?If I will win this fight, I will be given a big fight in the US for a world title,? said Pacquiao in an interview with Sun.Star Cebu yesterday.
Pacquiao will be facing Bankluaygym tomorrow at the Waterfront Hotel and Casino in Cebu City.
The 27-year-old younger brother of the four-division world champion didn?t promise a knockout win but said he will go all out because he?s hungry to become a world champion like his brother, the World Boxing Council lightweight champion Manny ?Pacman? Pacquiao.
?I know my enemy is tough. I will do everything to win this fight,? said Pacquiao.
Pacquiao hasn?t seen the previous fights of his Thai enemy so he will step into the ring with a virtually unknown foe.
Before he came to Cebu City to train at the RWS gym, Pacquiao had been training in his brother?s gym in Gen. Santos City and completed almost 100 rounds of sparring and is currently in the weight limit of 135 pounds.
?My training is going well. I?m in good shape,? said Pacquiao.
Today, Pacquaio will have a first look at the Thai opposition, Bankluay, in a weigh in at the Waterfront Hotel and Casino for their regional title bout in the fight card dubbed ?Road To Redemption?.
The Filipino lightweight warrior is recently fresh from a first round KO loss to Urbano Antillon last March 13 at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
Pacquiao has a record of 28 wins 14 losses and 3 draws with 13 KOs while Bankluay has a similar record of 28 wins 10 losses and 2 draws with 19 KO?s.
Also seeing action is Oriental Pacific Boxing Federation bantamweight titleholder Rolly ?Matsushita? Lunas (24-6-1, 14 KOs) who will be defending his title against Kaonah Khlongphajon (5-12-2, 4 KO?s) of Thailand; Arnel Porras, who will be trading leathers with Manny?s sparring partner David Rodela of Mexico.
