ASK A few Filipino diehard fans of Manny Pacquiao and they would all tell you that Erik Morales made a mistake in deciding to sign up for an HBO Pay-Per-View March 19 encounter with the lethal-hitting Filipino lefty.
But Morales? influential promoter Bob Arum of Top Rank and the Mexican cavalier himself believe it will be worth the risk.
“My thinking is that this is the kind of fighter Erik Morales is: Morales is a warrior. And he only wants to do big fights,” Arum told Robert Morales, who rites for the San Gabriel Valley Tribune recently.
“I have another opportunity to show that, in boxing, you need to be explosive. I gave the public three fights last year. Even though I am disappointed that I did not close it out (with a victory), I am beginning the (new) year by fighting a great warrior like Pacquiao.”
The newspaper described Morales? decision to slug it out with Pacquiao as “going from the frying pan into the fire.”
Pacquiao-Morales, dubbed “Bring It On,” by Top Rank and Murad Muhammad?s M&M Sports, is set for 12 rounds in the super-featherweight class at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
