GL: What’s the latest and greatest with Nate Campbell? “Nothing much Greg, just relaxing on my driving down to training camp as we speak”
GL: Your next challenger, Joan Guzman is fast and quick. Do you think he’s faster and quicker than you?
NC: “I don’t know about that, but everybody else seems to think he is, so I guess he is. I’m going to be as fast as I need to be and as quick as I need to be.”
GL: Does this fight go the distance?
NC: “If he runs all night maybe. He won’t stand there with me. If he feels he’s got power moving up in weight and fights with me, he won’t last all night. If he goes in there to box with me and do what he does best, it might go the distance, but I’m looking for a knockout.”
GL: What will be the difference in this fight that leads to a Nate Campbell victory?
NC: “Nate Campbell being Nate Campbell. Going out there, fighting hard and making him fight every minute of every round.”
GL: What did you think about Pacquiao-Diaz?
NC: “Before [Manny] Pacquiao fought [David] Diaz, I said it before, everybody was calling a Diaz a nobody. They were calling him a paper champion and all sorts of names. After Pacquiao beat him he suddenly became the last great Mexican fighter. I don’t understand. Pacquiao looked good, but it is what it is.”
GL: Who do you like in Casamayor-Marquez?
NC: “I don’t care. I fight on the same night, so I’m not promoting them. I’d fight either one of them, but I don’t really care who wins.”
GL: What about Katsidis and [Juan] Diaz?
NC: “Another fight that falls into the I don’t care category and that’s bad, because they’re in my division.”
GL: In your opinion, where does Guzman rank compared to those guys?
NC: “I don’t know, I can’t answer that. He was a great 122 and 126 he was good at 130, we’ll see what he’s got at 135 but he’s ability and talent is clear. He’s a talented guy. I’ll tell you this, he’s more physically naturally talented than all of those guys.”
GL: Although your win over Juan Diaz was your breakthrough fight, do you feel you’re still in a do or die position?
NC: “Yeah. Every fight I’m in a do or die position. If I don’t win this fight, I’m fighting for peanuts.”
GL: Is that your biggest motivation?
NC: “Every damn hour.”
GL: Closing thoughts?
NC: “I want to thank all of my fans for standing with me. September 13 is going to be a great night for me and I want everyone to tune in.”
