South African world champion Sivenathi Nontshinga, 27, a two-time IBF light flyweight world champion, was involved in a serious car accident on Monday, August 24, on Malibongwe Drive in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Nontshinga was traveling to the gym to continue training for his IBF world title eliminator against Filipino Regie Suganob on September 12 in the Philippines.
The full extent of his injuries is still unknown, and more information is expected soon.
Nontshinga's accident comes as a shock to South Africa, which is still mourning the murder of two-time former world champion Zolani Tete on Friday night in Mdantsane.
