When fight figures cross into nine-digit guarantees, the conversation usually turns cynica…

Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury are closer than ever to finally sharing the ring, with The Big Apple emerging as the frontrunner to host the mega-fight on November 20! Sounds good? I think its sounds great!

The anticipation surrounding this development is FantASTIC! This is not just a matchup between two former world champions; it is a collision between two titans who have dominated the heavyweight narrative for over a decade without never ever crossing gloves.

For years no end, promotional divides, political hurdles, and unpredictable circumstances kept them apart, fans getting annoyed. Diba?

Now, the two British giants are on the precipice of the fight that us, boxing fans, have craved for how long?

Negotiations are progressing rapidly for the late-autumn showdown, with New York’s legendary Madison Square Garden leading the race as the host venue.

Bringing Joshua vs. Fury to the U.S.A. (initially a London stadium was mentioned), might make this rumble a blockbuster, a massive global entertainment event. Their clash suits well the bright lights of the "Mecca of Boxing.

However, caution, hermanos. Kasi one Final Contractual Hurdle Remains.

While recent reports from the UK suggested the deal was practically finalized, a minor contractual roadblock must be cleared before an official announcement can be made. What is it?

Well, according to sources close to the negotiations, an official announcement could drop as early as next week, as all major parties have agreed to the fight in principle.

However, the famous Matchroom Boxing promotional kingpin Eddie Hearn has slightly cooled the immediate euphoria, urging patience until the ink is dry.

Eddie Hearn confirmed ongoing talks with H.E. Turki Alalshikh and Sela, but clarified that a definitive agreement regarding the venue amendment has not yet been signed.

"We are in constant communication with Turki and Sela, but as of now, there is no agreement on any modification to the contract," Hearn explained.

The roadblock is specific to Anthony Joshua’s existing promotional structure. His original bout agreement stipulated that his long-awaited fight against Fury must take place on British soil! (likely at Wembley). How about that?

Meanwhile, thankfully, Fury’s contract carries no such geographical restriction. So, for the fight to move across the Atlantic, Anthony Joshua must formally sign off on an amendment.

Then, Madison Square Garden Takes the Lead!

For months, Eddie Hearn has maintained that both he and his long-tile boxer Anthony Joshua would prefer a UK venue to reward the domestic fans who have supported them from the beginning.

However, the international stakeholders are heavily leaning toward New York City (not to mention Netflix), due to its unparalleled commercial appeal, global broadcasting time slots, and high-roller gate potential.

Therefore, actually yes, Madison Square Garden is still and now well positioned to play host to what would instantly become one of the most historically significant heavyweight fights of the modern era, echoing the legendary nights of Muhammad Ali, Joe Frazier, and Roberto Durán.

And what else? Well, Tyson Fury has just put in some fire on his social media.

As behind-the-scenes negotiations intensified, the popular "Gypsy King" took to social media to send the boxing world into a frenzy: The former lineal champion teased his followers with a characteristic video update, declaring that a massive announcement is imminent.

"I’ve got big news coming very, very soon," Fury said. "Everything is good. There’s a big fight on the horizon. It’s the one you’ve all been waiting for."

While Tyson Fury did not explicitly name Joshua, the context of current negotiations leaves little doubt. The fight that once seemed destined to join the tragic list of "great matchups that never happened"—alongside Myke Tyson vs Butterbeam, is now closer than ever to reality.

A Decade in the Making!

Joshua and Fury have been on a collision course since they first conquered the heavyweight division. Right? Anthony Joshua captured multiple world titles, selling out football stadiums across the UK and transforming himself into a global commercial juggernaut! Even after his kinda nervous breakdown after losing to Usky, AJ is as popular as ever.

Meanwhile, "The Gypsy King" Tyson Fury shocked the world by dethroning the legendary Wladimir Klitschko before cementing his legacy in an iconic, epic, super grueling and brutal trilogy against Deontay Wilder (one of the best trilogies un boxing history, diba?)

Previous negotiation attempts over the years for AJ and Fury to meet in the ring sadly fell apart due to: purse splits, rematch clauses, and conflicting broadcast network allegiances.

Now, luckily for us, with both veterans hunting for a definitive, career-capping legacy win, the fight is back on the table.

The final piece of the puzzle relies entirely on Anthony Joshua formally accepting the venue switch. Come on, AJ! Do it! Is it too difficult? Gotta be a reason or reason$.

Then, this kinda explains Eddie Hearn’s cautious approach compared to the rampant optimism circulating elsewhere in the industry, correcto? While an official confirmation is still pending, high-level sources indicate that talks are alright and in the final stages.

With a little bit of luck, a formal press release is expected very soon. If finalized, Anthony Joshua vs. "The Gypsy King" Tyson Fury on November 20 would instantly become the biggest fight event of 2026. LEts hope so!
