Three-time world boxing champion Kenia "Mexican Queen" Enriquez (28-1, 11 KOs) will continue her highly anticipated return to professional boxing when she faces veteran contender Melinda "La Maravilla" Cooper (23-2, 11KO) in a flyweight bout on Saturday, August 29, in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico. The event, promoted by Latin KO Promotions led by Oswaldo Kuchle, will be broadcast live throughout Mexico on Televisa and in the United States on TUDN.
Enriquez, fighting in her hometown, returns to the ring after more than two and a half years away from boxing, during which she successfully competed in mixed martial arts and posted an undefeated 3-0 record under the Combate Global banner. Now focused once again on boxing, the former world champion has made it clear that her goal is to reclaim a world title at 112 pounds and reestablish herself among the sport's elite.
Standing across the ring will be Melinda Cooper, an experienced and durable veteran who has shared the ring with several top contenders throughout her career. Cooper's toughness and ring experience make her a dangerous opponent and an ideal test for Enriquez as she begins her climb back toward championship contention.
