The Mexican Olympic team, comprised of seven athletes, earned valuable points for the World Boxing rankings at the Guiyang 2026 World Boxing Cup in China, with a bronze medal won by Paris 2024 Olympian Fatima Herrera in the women's 48 kg category.
Herrera was defeated in the semifinals by split decision (3-2) against Jyoti Jyoti of India with scores of 27-30, 29-28, 30-27, 28-29, and 27-30. Herrera had secured a medal after defeating local representative Xiong Guanyun by unanimous decision (5-0) in the quarterfinals.
After the competition, the Mexican delegation, made up of seven boxers, will return to the National Center for the Development of Sports Talents and High Performance (CNAR), where they will continue their training and preparation for the grand final from November 25 to December 2 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
