WELL-known international matchmaker Sampson Lewkowicz believes the future of Philippine boxing is in good hands now that a handful of Filipino boxers are slowly making a name in the United States.
Lewkowicz particularly named AJ ?Bazooka? Banal as the country?s next potential superstar as the Filipino teen phenom will be fighting for the vacant World Boxing Association (WBA) super flyweight crown against Rafael Concepcion of Panama on July 26 in Cebu to be covered by ABS-CBN.
Lewkowicz discussed his thoughts about Philippine boxing as guest of the daily radio show ?Sports Chat? Monday morning via phone patch from his residence in Las Vegas.
Lewkowicz also clarified matters about a reported title fight between Japanese fighters Takefumi Sakata and Hiroyuki Hisataka for the same WBA 115-lb crown.
