WBC World Minimumweight Champion Melvin Jerusalem of Zip Sanman Boxing touched down in Johannesburg, South Africa, three weeks ahead of his scheduled title defense against Siyakholwa Kuse on May 16. The early arrival is aimed at acclimating to the altitude and adjusting to the environment before the showdown.
Jerusalem is already in the city with his team, joined by head trainer Michael Domingo and assistant Dario Luga, as he begins his intensive preparation camp.
Statement from Jerusalem:
“It’s good to be here three weeks early, so I have time to adjust to the altitude, weather, time, and place. I’m prepared to do better than our first fight and will make sure to bring back my belt home to the Philippines.”
Jerusalem and Kuse battled in Manila last October 29, with Jerusalem winning by a close decision to retain the title.
