LAS VEGAS ? Jorge Arce, the Mexican who has a heart made of steel, said Saturday that Manny Pacquiao is indeed the best boxer in the planet today ? pound for pound.
?Pacquiao is a very good fighter. Pacquiao is the best fighter pound for pound,? said Arce, the flamboyant boxer known for a grand entrance each time he fights.
He carries a cigar and often wears a cowboy hat into the ring, and in a couple of his fights made his entrance atop a stallion or a Harley.
But he?s hat off to Pacquiao.
?Pacquiao at 135 (lbs) is very strong. Right now I think nobody can beat him,? said the former world flyweight champion (49-4-1) from Mexico.
Arce, who might end up fighting Filipino Nonito Donaire one day, said Pacquiao should be good facing Edwin Valero next.
?Valero against Pacquiao? Oh, it?s going to be a good fight. It?s going to be a terrific fight and Interesting,? he said after watching Pacquiao demolish David Diaz at Mandalay Bay.
