SAN ANTONIO (Ticker) – With a possible rubber match against fellow Mexican Erik Morales looming, Marco Antonio Barrera cannot look ahead Saturday night when takes on Philippino southpaw Manny Pacquiao in a 12-round bout at the Alamodome.
Widely considered the best featherweight in the world, despite not possessing one of the three major belts, Barrera (57-3-1, 40 KOs) has won eight straight bouts since losing a controversial decision to then-WBC featherweight champ Morales in February 2000.
Barrera avenged that defeat with a decision over Morales in Las Vegas last June but declined the title because he was upset at the outcome of the first meeting.
