Melvin 'Gringo' Jerusalem of the Philippines and Luis Castillo of Mexico successfully made weight Saturday in Manila ahead of their WBC world minimumweight title fight Sunday at the Mandaluyong City College. Both fighters registered identical weights of 104.8 lbs just shy of the 105 minimumweight division limit of 105 lbs.
Jerusalem (22-3-0, 12KOs) will defend the WBC title for the first time that he won against former Japanese champion Yudai Shigaoka on March 31, 2024 in Nagoya, Japan.
Castillo (21-0-1, 13KOs) from Los Mochis in Sinaloa, Mexico is the WBC top contender and will be fighting for a world title for the first time.
