Abando, Calubo are Sarbay Strongman 2024

GLAN, SARANGANI – Micah David Abando of Manila and Jayar Calubo of Gen. Santos City ruled the women and men’s open division of the Sarbay Strongman 2024 held May 25 at the Reyes Beach.

The 32-year old Abando won the women’s open by making a Carry medley, Car deadlift, T Bar static holds, Yoke squat and Stone Run.

Abando, who is also member of the Philippine Quipped Powerlifting Nationals, beat Michele Ann Pedregosa and Riki Denise Florez, both of Koronadal City in the finals.

Pedregosa settled for second while Florez was third.

Calubo, on the other hand, topped the men’s open division by besting compatriots John Matthew Gabriel and Ginson Amba, who finished second and third, respectively.

Meanwhile, Shaira Cabrera of Gensan Strongman Gym dominated the women’s Under 65 Division by conquering Kristine Hernani Alsado [GSG] and Viea Dela Pena [Koronadal], who finished second and third, respectively.

Men U90 – 1. Lennard Delola [Koronadal] 2. Argie Villarubia [Koronadal] 3. Michael Banes [GSG]

Men 105 – 1. Billy Banes [GSG]2. JM Garcia [Koronadal] 3. Harold Gesasulao [GSG]

The one-day Sarbay Strongman was organized by Steven Thomas Haw.

It was sponsored by a local government unit headed by Gov. Rogelio Pacquiao in cooperation with the Provincial Tourism Council of Sarangani led by Jobelle Pacquaio.
