After Ryan Garcia’s shocking upset win over Devin Haney, he’s been as active as ever on social media.
Garcia took to X’s Spaces to speak to friends and fans. Among other topics, Garcia discussed his plans for his next fight. Garcia has mentioned several potential fighters as options, but he has repeatedly mentioned Sebastian Fundora, the WBO and WBC super welterweight champion, as an intriguing opponent.
“I personally wanna beat up Fundora for the 154-pound title,” Garcia said. “I know he’s 6-foot-6, but I can knock him out cold. I will put Fundora to sleep.”
One of Garcia’s followers suggested he fight Rolly Ramirez next, but Garcia prioritized going after champions to answer some of his critics.
“I need a title just to do it, just to shut people up.”
Fundora is coming off a title-winning performance in a potential Fight of the Year against Tim Tszyu. Fundora stepped in for the injured Keith Thurman to challenge Tszyu for the vacant title and scored a victory in one of the bloodiest wars in boxing this year.
Several fighters immediately began targeting Fundora after the fight.
Terence Crawford showed interest as the mandatory challenger. However, he is now set on challenging WBA 154-pound champion Israil Madrimov on August 3 in the first Saudi-backed card in the United States. Errol Spence Jr. was at the Fundora-Tszyu fight and climbed into the ring to challenge the winner.
