Top Rank promoter Bob Arum says he has been in talks with Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer about a Ricky Hatton-Manny Pacquiao clash in Las Vegas this November.
Hatton is pencilled in to meet IBF light welterweight champion Paulie Malignaggi in November, but a more lucrative bout with Pacquiao would be an attractive proposition for the Mancunian and Golden Boy.
Pacquiao first faces David Diaz for the WBC lightweight title on June 28 and he has also been mentioned as a possible last opponent for Oscar De La Hoya, but Arum said his recent talks with Schaefer have been in regard to a Hatton-Pacquiao meeting.
“It wasn?t about Manny Pacquiao fighting Oscar but Manny and Hatton,” Arum told the Manilla Bulletin.
Previously, Golden Boy hoped that Hatton would fill in for the retired Floyd Mayweather to fight De La Hoya on September 8 date, but the Mancunian fighter rejected this opportunity insisting he did not want a meeting with the American until next summer.
With De La Hoya set to make his last appearance on December 6, probably against Miguel Angel Cotto, it seems a meeting with Hatton will not take place.
