David Diaz: Pacquiao and I were made for each other!

Courtesy of Ted Regencia, WBC lightweight champion David Diaz is seen here at a recent Cinco de Mayo parade in Chicago. WATCH as Diaz speaks about his upcoming mega fight with Manny Pacquiao!

TR: How do you think your fight with Manny will be different from the other Mexican fighters who have faced him?

DD: Well lets just wait and see how the fight goes. I?m not a big prediction kind of guy. I don?t like to predict because I don?t believe in that. I believe you should be humble and both me and Manny are humble fighters. We like to prove our selves in the ring. Hopefully we?ll get the chance to show that on June 28.

TR: How do you feel about being honored by the Mexican community?

DD: It?s beautiful because I?ve always said that even though I was born here in the United States, my heritage is Mexican. My life and upbringing has been Mexican. For them to honor me by making me co-marshal of the parade? it doesn?t get much better than that. My next fight is dedicated to the people.

TR: How is training going for your June 28 fight against Manny Pacquiao?

DD: Training is going good. We?re beginning deep training this week. There?s still some promoting to do, but the training has been great. Of course I?m training here in the beautiful city of Chicago.

TR: Are you looking forward to fighting Manny Pacquiao?

DD: Definitely, definitely. We?re both made for each other and we?re going to give an exciting fight for the public. That?s what this fight is about, to keep the public and the fans happy.

TR: What do you think of fighting in front of such a large global audience?

DD: I have a lot of friends who are Filipino and fortunately for me they?ll be rooting for me. They know me and a say I?m their buddy and I appreciate their support. I fell good about it.
