A day after arriving there from Los Angeles, the power-punching Filipino middleweight hooked up with new trainer Jorge Capetillo and conditioning coach Memo Heredia.
Marcial is being targeted to vie in his second professional bout in the third week of March, according to MP Promotions chief Sean Gibbons, more than 15 months after making his debut in Los Angeles.
Gibbons said either Los Angeles or Las Vegas are being eyed as sites of the 26-year-old Marcial’s much-awaited return to the pro ranks.
Heredia has promised to turn Marcial into a fearsome and a superbly-conditioned puncher just like his two famous clients Juan Manuel Marquez of Mexico and Yordenis Ugas of Cuba, fighters who have beaten Manny Pacquiao.
When he turned pro, Marcial trained under Hall of Famer Freddie Roach at the Wild Card Boxing Club in Hollywood.
Under Marcial’s timeline, he intends to travel back to the Philippines after his second pro bout so he could join members of the national team in Baguio as a buildup for the 31st Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Hanoi in May.
After the SEA Games, Marcial will likely have his third fight or just continue training for the Hangzhou Asian Games in September.
