Eddie Hearn has expressed his concern with Tyson Fury’s condition heading into his trilogy bout with Deontay Wilder next weekend.
Fury is finally set to meet Wilder for a third time on October 9, having ripped the WBC heavyweight title from his grasp in a one-sided rematch 20 months ago.
The Gypsy King battered Wilder from pillar to post that night in Las Vegas, forcing the American’s corner team to throw in the towel during round seven.
He was also controversially denied victory on the judges’ scorecards when they first locked horns in December 2018, with fans adamant that the result should have gone in his favour.
As a result, Fury will be expected to see off Wilder once again in next Saturday’s trilogy at the T-Mobile Arena.
But Hearn, the long-serving promoter of Fury’s heavyweight rival Anthony Joshua, fears he is not suitably prepared for his first ever world-title defence.
“I still think he’ll win comfortably, but it does throw in the likelihood of a mistake happening.
“If you make a mistake against Deontay Wilder, it could cost you the fight. He’s very dangerous.
“I don’t see him [Fury] losing a round, but it doesn’t really matter. One mistake, and it can be over.”
Hearn is still reeling from Joshua’s devastating defeat against Oleksandr Usyk at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last Saturday.
The Brit was outclassed by Usyk in north London, slumping to the second loss of his career and losing his unified heavyweight titles via unanimous decision.
