He is in the thick of training but Jerwin Ancajas has yet to get confirmation about when, where and who he is going to fight next.
Holed up in Bukidnon, Ancajas is being eyed to make a return to the ring in November or December.
Last time he fought, Ancajas retained the International Boxing Federation (IBF) super-flyweight crown for the ninth time by outpointing Jonathan Rodriguez of Mexico at the Mohegan Sun Resort and Casino in Uncasville, Connecticut, last April.
Sean Gibbons, who runs MP Promotions, told Daily Tribune he is working doubly hard to get Ancajas a date and a challenger.
“Not even sure of Jewin’s date and even the opponent,” Gibbons said.
But given his track record and influence, securing an Ancajas date and foe should be forthcoming.
“I am looking to get him here,” Gibbons said.
Ancajas, who parades a 33-1-2 record with 22 knockouts, has been the IBF 115-lb champion since September 2016.
He has traveled all around the world defending his title, seeing action in Macau, Australia, Northern Ireland, Mexico and several times on American soil.
Also on Gibbons’ plate is Tokyo Olympics bronze medalist Eumir Marcial, who might fight for the second time as a professional in December, around the same time he turned the punch-for-pay business last year.
Marcial also fights under the Pacquiao-owned MP Promotions banner.
A few days ago, Marcial, who campaigns in the star-studded middleweight class, dropped by the residence of Pacquiao to pay a courtesy call to the eight-division champion.
Gibbons also wants the southpaw Marcial back in the US so he can commence his pre-conditioning program.
