Pacquiao spars 12 rounds, does 31 overall in training for Spence

MANILA, PHILIPPINES

Manny Pacquiao goes all out in training, knowing he’s going to war against a formidable rival in Errol Spence Jr.

It’s a killer training regimen even young boxers wouldn’t dare to equal.

But there he was, Manny Pacquiao pushing his 42-year-old, battle-ravaged body to the extreme – running and exercising in the morning, then working out or sparring in the gym in the afternoon.

Pacquiao is again going to war and this time he’s clashing with a formidable rival in Errol Spence Jr. on Saturday, August 21 (Sunday, August 22, Philippine time) at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The eight-division world champion knows the unbeaten Spence (27-0, 21 knockouts) is the top dog of the 147-pound division and is putting all the hard work at Freddie Roach’s Wild Card Boxing Club in Hollywood.

Take Saturday’s typical session.

Pacquiao (62-7-2, 39 knockouts) sparred for 12 rounds with three partners and did other stuff for 31 in total.

That he has energy left to drive home his Mercedez Benz SL550 and attend to over 500 fans gathered at the front area of Wild Card along Vine Street defies logic.

For Roach, conditioning coach Justin Fortune, and assistant trainer Buboy Fernandez, 31 rounds are ordinary work for Pacquiao.

When he’s in the groove, Pacquiao can do as high as 36 rounds in three hours.
