Everywhere in the country today, boxing fans hailed the victory of Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao as he wrested the crown of World Boxing Council superfeatherweight champion Juan Manuel “Dinamita” Marquez in their scheduled 12-round fight at Mandalay Bay Resort Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
In Central Mindanao, people cheered for Pacquaio while Pangasinenses had varied reactions to the victory of the “People’s Champion”, mostly celebratory.
Police officials in Zamboanga reported zero-crime during the fight as Pacquiao fulfilled his dream of becoming the first boxer from Asia to win three world titles in different weight classes.
