Phl boxer Dasmariñas in landmark US fight

Hall of Fame promoter Bob Arum told Daily Tribune on Wednesday that the 19 June world bantamweight title fight between Japanese champion Naoya Inoue and Filipino mandatory challenger Michael Dasmariñas at the Virgin Hotel in Las Vegas will be staged in front of spectators.

“Expect a full capacity,” the Top Rank chief said from his Las Vegas headquarters.

With cases of Covid-19 slowing down dramatically across America owing to the country’s rapid vaccination drive, business is starting to open up.

Even during the height of the pandemic, Top Rank managed to stage shows albeit under a bubble setup from June to October last year.

This year, Arum’s outfit resumed its old ways by doing regular shows with strict safety protocols in place.

In fact, a major card is penciled for 22 May at the Virgin Hotel with fans watching the action live.

Meanwhile, Dasmarinas’s preparation for Inoue is in full swing in La Union, according to the Bicol-born fighter’s chief handler Art Monis.
