LAS VEGAS ? Daniel Zaragoza, the former super-bantamweight champion from Mexico City, said there?s only one way for Juan Manuel Marquez to keep his WBC super-featherweight crown against Manny Pacquiao.
?He has to fight the perfect fight. It has to be perfect because one big shot from Pacquiao could change everything,? Zaragoza, a member of Nacho Beristain?s stable of champions, said after Friday?s final weigh-in.
Zaragoza said Pacquiao enjoys a stronger chance of winning because of his tremendous speed.
?He?s so tenacious with his speed ? the hand speed. I think he can win. But I didn?t say he?s going to win. I think he can win,? said Zaragoza as interpreted by Golden Boy Promotions? Ramiro Gonzalez.
But he said he likes Marquez more when it comes to boxing skills.
?I think his boxing skills can manage Manny Pacquiao, and then he can win by decision. But I believe that if it?s a KO (knockout) then Pacquiao wins,? said the 50-year-old former champion.
Zaragoza retired in 1997 after losing his WBC crown to Erik Morales.
Shane Mosley, the only fighter to have beaten Oscar dela Hoya twice, also shared his thoughts on the fight, and said he feels that Pacquiao is the stronger fighter.
?I think it?s going to be a tremendous fight for both fighters. I think Marquez is a very talented fighter. But Pacquiao is very strong. Pacquiao has the strength but Marquez has the mind,? he said Friday at Mandalay Bay.
?I?m just gonna watch this fight,? he said.
?It?s going to be a good fight. It?s going to be a great fight. In the first couple of rounds we?ll see who?s going to take the fight,? he said.
