LAS VEGAS ? The mainstream US media is also caught up with the buzz of Saturday night?s rematch between Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez.
The leading newspapers such as the Los Angeles Times, New York Post, Philadelphia News, Pasadena News, Star Tribune as well as USA Today have been running lengthy stories of the World Boxing Council (WBC) super-featherweight brawl set at the Mandalay Bay, while the wire agencies like Associated Press, Reuters and Agence France have come out with datelined stories of the fight.
Apart from these media outfits, the boxing websites are also immersed in the much-awaited second meeting between the finest 130-pounders in the world today.
“There?s a tremendous buzz and response to this fight,” said Top Rank boss Bob Arum, whose outfit is staging the event in partnership with Golden Boy Promotions (GBP), which promotes Marquez.
To accommodate those who will not be able to watch the fight inside the 12,000-seat venue, Top Rank and GBP are outting up closed circuit stations at the Mandalay Bay at a pop.
This is the first time that closed circuit will be used in a Pacquiao fight.
