Pacquiao promises Saturday massacre

“LET’S just see on Saturday night,” American trainer Freddie Roach blurted out yesterday, shrugging off claims by the rival Thai camp that Manny Pacquiao is not in peak form.

Roach was reacting to statements credited to Fahsan 3K Battery that Pacquiao has not trained sufficiently for their big bout on Saturday.

However, Roach bared that Pacquiao, a dreaded southpaw, would be 100-percent ready on fight night and should be able to end the bout early, possibly with a right punch.

In fact, Pacquiao’s slated four-mile jog was cut down to only two yesterday morning because the fighter’s conditioning was already nearing perfection, the Filipino camp bared.

Pacquiao also did not do usual hard gym work and had only limbering exercises at the Wild Card Gym in Para?aque City.

“Abangan na lang sa Sabado (Let’s just wait for Saturday),” chorused Buboy Fernandez, Pacquiao’s Filipino handler who said Roach would bare an even greater part of his training talent in today’s clinic at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium on Adriatico Street, Manila.

After having observed Pacquiao during gym work Tuesday, the 30-year-old Fahsan said the Filipino had uneven sweating, which the Thai blamed on rushed, uneven training.

Upon hearing about the Thai claim, Pacquiao also said all questions should be answered on Saturday.

“Mahirap panay usapan, sa Sabado na subukan (Let’s stop talking and settle things on Saturday),” said the Ring Magazine featherweight champ in predicting a massacre.

Fahsan’s manager, Jimmy Chachotochuang, said Pacquiao, based on their findings, has trained thoroughly for only three weeks for the big match.

This means, the manager added, that although Pacquiao enjoys a big edge in speed and power, he could be beaten by Fahsan, who enters the ring an awful underdog.

The Thai camp had also bared that, instead of running in the first four rounds as initially planned, Fahsan would meet Pacquiao head-on after the first bell.
