LAS VEGAS ? In a fight that will determine his future, Bobby Pacquiao squares off with unbeaten Mexican-American Urbano Antillon on Thursday night (Friday morning in Manila) in a lightweight tenner at the Hard Rock Hotel.
During Wednesday?s official weighin, Pacquiao, younger brother of star Manny Pacquiao, scaled in at 133 lbs, while Antillon came in at 134.
Like his big brother Manny, who trained hard for eight solid weeks under Freddie Roach at the Wild Card in Hollywood, Bobby also worked extra-hard the past several weeks.
“I started training a week after Manny arrived in the States and I know that it?s going to be a tough fight against Antillon but I will do my best,” said Bobby, who parades a 28-13-3 win-loss-draw card with 13 knockouts.
Antillon, the 2000 National Golden Gloves champion, had said in an interview recently that his Filipino foe is just “a left-hander and a brother of Manny” and he promised to knock him out.
Antillon sports a 21-0 slate with 14 knockouts and many times sparred with Juan Manuel Marquez and even Venezuelan Edwin Valero.
Bobby is coming off a knockout loss to Humberto Soto of Mexico in New York last June and needs to win the bout so he could get back into the mix of things.
Freddie Roach will be in Bobby?s corner, but Manny won?t be around as he has been ordered by Roach to just relax at his suite at the Mandalay Bay.
