EDUARDO RAMIREZ STOPS MIGUEL FLORES IN FIVE

In a war between two Mexican hombres who each failed in their first attempt for a world title, southpaw Eduardo Ramirez stopped Miguel Flores to capture the vacant WBC Continental Americas featherweight title on the undercard of the Errol Spence Jnr vs Danny Garcia welterweight championship at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas Saturday night (Sunday in Manila).

Ramirez, 27,who lost to Lee Selby for the IBF feather title three years ago, exhibited good timing, crisp punches and good combinations to take control of the fight from Flores and at the opening seconds of the fifth round, connected with a clear right to the head that sent Flores to the canvas down and out.

Ramirez, from boxing crazy Los Mochis in Sinaloa, now improves to 24-2-3, 11KOs while Flores, who lost to then world champion Leo Santa Cruz in his last fight, dropped to 24-4-0, 12KOs.
