Greer Jr vs Rodriguez Ends in Majority Draw

Top Rank's bantamweight prospect Joshua Greer Jr of Chicago who lost to Filipino Mike Plania in his last fight, failed to bounce back on the win column after he was held to a draw by Edwin Rodriguez of Puerto Rico in their 8-round scheduled fight on the undercard of the Crawford-Brook WBO welterweight championship at The Bubble at MGM Grand Hotel & Casino Saturday night (Sunday in Manila).

Rodriguez took the early rounds as Greer opt to box. Sensing he was down on the scorecards, Greer went to fight inside that resulted in a phone booth fight in the 6th round with Greer appeared to do better with the exchange. Greer continued to fight inside in the last two rounds that allowed him to close the gap on the judges' scorecards.

Adalaide Byrd had it 77-75 for Rodriguez while Max DeLuca and John McKaie had it 76-76 draw.

Greer is now 22-2-2 with 12KOs while Rodriguez is 11-5-2, 5KOs.
