Gervonta Davis has done it again. The WBA “regular” 135-pound champion scored a vicious sixth-round knockout of Leo Santa Cruz that left his opponent in a heap in a corner of the ring on Saturday night in San Antonio. Davis and Santa Cruz went toe-to-toe over the first five rounds of the fight with Davis seemingly getting the better of his opponent despite Santa Cruz pushing Davis to his limits.
Davis sent up Santa Cruz by forcing him into the corner and hiding his left uppercut perfectly before landing it flush on the chin. Santa Cruz was left in a heap on the canvas with his leg underneath his back. Davis now claims Santa Cruz’s belt at 130 as well as his own at 135.
