Floyd Mayweather has aimed a thinly-veiled dig at Manny Pacquiao by claiming his old rival needs to keep fighting for financial reasons.
Mayweather, who topped the Forbes rich list of the decade after amassing an eye-watering fortune worth £706million, walked away from the sport back in 2017 after defeating Conor McGregor in a money-spinning crossover fight.
Despite beating Pacquiao back in 2015, Mayweather is still constantly trading barbs with his former foe while the pair have previously flirted with a rematch on several occasions.
The Filipino star, 41, is still active and is rumoured to be fighting either Mikey Garcia or Terence Crawford later this year.
Mayweather couldn’t resist taunting his rival over his superior finances which has left him in a position to never have to fight again.
As reported by Boxing Scene, he told rapper Fat Joe: ‘My faculties and everything that I got come first.
‘We just talked about, your health is your wealth. And that’s why I got this towel on, I was working out today.
‘Now, Pacquiao fights because he has to. Once again, I fight if I want to. So there’s a difference.’
Eight-weight world champion Pacquiao, who remains one of boxing’s biggest pay-per-view stars and has an estimated net worth of £150m, last fought in 2019, defeating Keith Thurman to strip him of his WBA welterweight title.
