Israel Vazquez has just won the rubbermatch against Rafael Marquez after what is easily going to be a Fight of the Year candidate seconds ago at the Home Depot Center in Carson, California.
Vazquez eked out a hard-fought split decision verdict, sealing it with a knockdown over Marquez in the final round to emerge victorious in two judges’ scorecards 114-111 and 113-112 while the third judge saw it for Marquez 114-111.
It was a fitting finale to the rivalry between these two future Hall of Fame candidates.
With the win, Vazquez now solidifies a possible encounter with superstars Manny Pacquiao or Marco Antonio Barrera in the near future.
