Anthony Joshua does not want to lock horns with Tyson Fury anytime soon, Frank Warren has claimed.
Reports emerged at the end of April suggesting negotiations are underway for a potential heavyweight showdown between Fury and Joshua, which would crown the first undisputed king of the division in over 20 years.
Nevertheless, the Gypsy King must first defend his WBC title in a rematch with Deontay Wilder later this year, while unified champion AJ is scheduled to face IBF mandatory Kubrat Pulev in his next bout.
Even if both men pass those tests with flying colours, though, Warren doesn’t think Joshua will be open to an undisputed battle with Fury.
When asked about the potential fight on Good Morning Britain, Fury’s promoter said: “Look, we’ve got no problem with it.
“We’ve signed an NDA with a country that are hopefully about to make the fight happen.
“I don’t think the other side want it. I’ve got a feeling in my bones that they do not want the fight.”
Fury produced an emphatic performance to rip the WBC crown from Wilder’s grasp in February, knocking the American down twice before his trainer threw in the towel during round seven.
Wilder has already activated his rematch clause, however, meaning they are set to meet for a third time later this year.
It has been suggested that the Bronze Bomber could accept step-aside money to allow Fury and Joshua to slug it out for all the belts.
But when asked if he expects Wilder to go ahead with the trilogy bout, Fury told GMB host Piers Morgan: “He will do and he will take the fight for one reason – money.
“There’s a hell of a lot of money on the table. He’s got eight or nine kids to feed.”
