Amir Khan doesn’t believe Floyd Mayweather will risk his legacy to jump into a ‘proper fight’ with Manny Pacquiao, despite beating the Filipino handily back in 2015. Mayweather has been retired since August 2017.
There have been rumours that Mayweather wants to make a comeback to the sport at the age of 43.
The 50-0 ex-fighter was filmed putting on sparring gear earlier this week at his gym in Las Vegas.
A potential rematch with Pacquiao, who he beat on points five years ago, could take place, but there’s also a rematch with Conor McGregor that could happen.
Mayweather fought in an exhibition bout in December 2019, knocking his opponent out in the 1st round.
Pacquiao won yet another world title last year, aged 41, after beating Keith Thurman via split decision.
But Khan doesn’t see the pair fighting ever again.
“I mean, Floyd Mayweather, to fight again? – At the end of the day, I don’t know,” Khan told World Boxing News.
“Floyd Mayweather is one of those fighters who might have spent up (the majority of his money) and might have to come back to the ring again.
“He spends a lot of money, but I don’t know if he’s ever going to want to come back. As I said, maybe he’s going to.
“We don’t know about Floyd Mayweather.
“But at this point in time, I can’t seem him coming back to fight in a proper fight.
“He’s been out of the ring a long time and he is getting older.
“You have to remember his age, he’s 43 years old.
“Obviously, you’ve still got Manny Pacquiao going at 41.
