HE admits that he is still young and honing his craft so its better if you call Ciso Morales ?Kid Terrible?.
The 20-year-old Morales got some mixed reactions when several write-ups came out calling him ?El Terrible? which for some is an unfair comparison to the original possessor of that nom-de-guerre, the Mexican icon Erik Morales.
?Erik is my idol. Maybe if I reach 25, I?ll start using ?El Terrible,? said Morales.
The young Morales is coming off a respectable 10-round unanimous decision win over Indon challenger Marawein Marbun Saturday night, winning for the Filipino the Asia-Pacific youth and Oriental titles of the World Boxing Organization (WBO). The bout was held at the classy Mindanao Civic Center in Tubod, Lanao Del Norte.
Morales now has a record of 10-0 with 6 knockouts.
?I try to imitate the skills of Erik and last Saturday I think I was able to be like him, defense-wise. I just failed to try how to counter-punch effectively,? said Morales.
Morales meanwhile said he started boxing after he was bullied while he was studying and even came to a point that he was called a gay.
?My parents and some friends told me they will help me prove to them that I am a straight guy,? said Morales.
Meanwhile Morales wants to clear that his first name is spelled with one “R”.
“My trunks was made in Thailand and probably those who did it thought my last name is spelled with double “R” just like “Terrible”,” said Morales who is a native of Talibon, Bohol.
