REX ?Wakee? Salud is furious at the Games and Amusement Board for what he perceive is the unfair treatment the late Alex Aroy is getting from the board.
Aroy died after a unanimous decision loss to Arnel Tadena last Feb. 4 in Villaba, Leyte and as a result of that death, will get a P10,000 aid from GAB.
However, Salud, who handles Aroy, questioned why GAB is only handing out P10,000, while they gave P100,000 when Lito Sisnorio died last year.
?Why is the amount not the same? Pareha ra man nang pataya. They both died after the fight. It is very unfair for Aroy,? Salud told Sun.Star Superbalita.
Sisnorio died after fighting Chatchai Saskul in Thailand on March 30, 2007.
Salud said he doesn?t see any reason the aid from GAB is not the same since the amount will be taken from the GAB welfare fund and not from the officials themselves.
Sun.Star Superbalita tried calling GAB chairman Eric Buhain and boxing division chief Dr. Nasser Cruz but both didn?t answer calls to their cell phones.
Unfair
?It would be better if they can correct this, because it is really unfair,? Salud said.
Salud, along with boxing superstar Manny Pacquiao will be giving P50,000 each to the family of the late boxer, while ALA Boxing Promotions, headed by Michael and Antonio L Aldeguer is also set to donate an amount.
Maasin City Mayor Maloney L. Samaco, who promoted Aroy?s first five fights, is also set to give financial aid to the boxer who will be buried today.
Meanwhile, Samaco wrote in Philboxing.com that he felt he lost a son when Aroy died.
?His father Nemesio ?Benny? Aroy was a former boxer and it was he who was his son?s first trainer. He had high hopes that his son someday would become an international or even a world champion. It was not an impossible dream because of his performance against South African Zukisani Kwayiba. Aroy became an instant celebrity in South Africa when he almost defeated Kwayiba if not for the hometown decision,? Samaco wrote in Philboxing.com. (ML and ESL of Superbalita)
