Jerwin Ancajas arrived in the US on Friday night (Saturday in the Philippines) expressing utmost confidence in his skills as he stakes the International Boxing Federation (IBF) super-flyweight crown against Jonathan Rodriguez of Mexico on Nov. 2 in Carson, CA.
After spending more than three months in a Philippine Navy facility in San Antonio, Zambales, that once was used by the US Navy, Ancajas faces an opponent known for his willingness to trade power shot after power shot.
?It?s going to be a tough defense,? said Sean Gibbons, the US matchmaker who welcomed Ancajas and his party at LAX.
Ancajas was brought to a house by Gibbons leased for 15 days so the Filipino champion?s camp can adjust to the new setting.
Unlike staying in a hotel, where restrictions abound, Ancajas? team members can pretty much do whatever please them.
