Former unified champion Gennady Golovkin of Kazakhstan and Sergiy Derevyanchenko of Ukraine both weighed in at 159 lbs., one pound below the middleweight limit during their official weighin at the Madison Square Garden in New York City Friday (Saturday in Manila). Golovkin (39-1-1, 35KOs) and Derevyanchenko (13-1-0, 10KOs) will fight for the IBF and IBO world middleweight titles Saturday night (Sunday in Manila), October 5, also at the Madison Square Garden to be broadcast live exclusively on DAZN. Golovkin previously held the IBF and IBO belts before he lost to Mexico’s Saul Alvarez September last year in Las Vegas.
