FILIPINO Icon Manny ?Pacman? Pacquiao has a set of sparring partners lined up for him when he starts sparring on Monday at Freddie Roach?s Wild Card Gym for his much-anticipated grudge rematch with World Boxing Council super featherweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez on March 15 at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.
Four of Pacquiao?s sparring partners will be Danny Cervantes, Roger Gonzales, David Rodela and Adrain ?A-game? Gallon, an amateur boxing phenomenon in the super featherweight category according to a report posted at boxingconfidential.com.
Pacquiao is just some nine pounds heavier than the 130-pound weight but Roach said the extra weight doesn?t seem to bother Pacquiao.
No worries
?That?s no problem (with) the way he?s running up the mountains,? said Pacquaio trainer, Roach in report posted at eastsideboxing.com.
Recently, Marco Antonio Barrera, a former nemesis of ?Pacman?, picked his fellow Mexican, who got the title from Barrera during their March 2007 fight, to be the winner.
?Definitely I am with Marquez,? Barrera told the Mexican paper Esto. ?I believe that he is going to win. I do not say this because we are both Mexicans. I say it because boxing-wise I believe that this is going to be.?
Hardest
?Marquez returned to the fight (after the knockdowns) and I believe he deserved to win. This tiebreak is going to be the hardest for both. But I feel Marquez is going to impose his boxing skills (on Pacquiao),? the former Mexican champ added.
On the other hand, Gary Shaw, a former promoter of Manny Pacquiao sees an even fight on March 15.
?We know Manny can down Marquez because he has done it. It would be an interesting fight,? Shaw told the local media in a gathering last Friday.
