Manny Pacquiao?s strength and conditioning coach Justin Fortune believes that Floyd Mayweather Jr. has no intention of battling anew the fighting senator and newly crowned World Boxing Association (WBA) super welterweight champion.
?I don?t think Floyd Mayweather Jr. will fight Manny after [the] Keith Thurman fight. But ultimately that?s Floyd?s decision and this is just my opinion,? Fortune told The Manila Times in an overseas call.
The former boxer-turned-coach said the Instagram battle between the two boxing legends was nothing but media hype.
?Manny won that fight [against Thurman] so I don?t think Floyd will fight him. Floyd has no intention to fight Manny. He just loves to be in the media. Manny doesn?t, Floyd does. He just started this social media war, and Manny doesn?t care.?
Fortune added that Mayweather would have a hard time matching Pacquiao?s current level of conditioning.
?Manny is an active fighter, fighting top level guys, while Floyd is not. Floyd knows that, Manny knows that, I know that and you know that,? added Fortune. ?I would love that fight to happen. If it happens, Manny [would] win. If that fight won?t happen, we fight someone else for a whole bunch of money.?
Since Mayweather retired in 2015, Pacquiao remains active in boxing, winning five of his last six fights against Timothy Bradley, Jessie Vargas, Lucas Matthysse, Adrien Broner and, most recently, Thurman.
Mayweather, before retiring from professional boxing, beat Pacquiao by unanimous decision in May 2015 and Andre Berto in September 2015.
