The boxing world has reacted with outrage over the judging in Manny Pacquiao’s welterweight title triumph against Keith Thurman.
Pacquiao floored Thurman early and persevered late to seal a contentious split-decision win at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Pacquiao (62-7-2) dropped his previously unbeaten opponent with a combination late in the first round, and the Pac-Man dominated the opening rounds with a combination of flair and power that recalled the incredible prime of the only eight-division champion in boxing history.
Although Pacquiao added a third straight win to his late-career resurgence, boxing experts were fuming at one of the judge’s scorecards.
Two judges scored the bout 115-112 for Pacquiao, however, third judge Glenn Feldman scored it 114-113 for Thurman, despite most observers agreeing that Pacquiao was the clear winner.
?That is absolutely sickening. What the hell was he watching,? Main Event commentator Ray Flores said.
?That judge who had the fight in favour of Keith Thurman should never be able to judge a professional fight again. Because he is bad at his job.
?Thank god for the two judges who had it right.?
His co-commentator Kendall Gill agreed, calling the Feldman’s scorecard “absolutely ridiculous”.
Fans were equally as scathing with the bizarre judging on social media.
