VORAPIN TRAINING HARD FOR PE?ALOSA BOUT

Thailand's Ratanachai Sor Vorapin has vowed to take the WBO bantam title away from Gerry Pe?alosa when they face off once again on March 2 at the Araneta Coliseum.

According to a source from Thailand, Vorapin has left his usual training camp in Bangkok to set up a spartan training in Chiang Mai province, and has brought with him a topnotch set of sparmates to help him prepare for the Filipino world champ.

Among those being tapped to spar with Vorapin are ex-WBA superbantam champ Somsak Sithchachawal and world-rated fighters Terdsak Jandaeng and Sod Looknoyangtoy.

Pe?alosa will defend against Vorapin in a mandatory showdown which will be a rematch of their first encounter in late 2000.

The Filipino champion is currently in Los Angeles training at the Wild Card Gym for the fight under the watchful eyes of trainer Freddie Roach.

Vorapin, ironically, is being trained for this fight by Jojo "Pogi" Palacios, a Filipino trainer who has been based in Thailand the last three years.

"I am happy at the same time nervous on Vorapin's chances, as I know Gerry to be a very, very tough champion. We are in for a fight," said Palacios in an interview.
