Rerun Time: Like It or Not, It Looks Like DeLaHoya-Mayweather II Is Coming May 3!

Oscar DeLaHoya?s desperate search for a May 3 opponent may be over. Had Ricky Hatton done more in his losing effort against Floyd Mayweather Dec. 8, it would?ve been the popular Mancunian in the opposite corner against ODLH on Cinco de Mayo weekend. But Mayweather dribbled Hatton all over the ring in Las Vegas and now, Boxingconfidential.,.com has confirmed, rumblings about DeLaHoya-Mayweather II are about to turn into reality.

?They both realize the obvious match, the most lucrative match, is their rematch. This is the biggest financial windfall either one of them has looming at this point,? the source said. ?Now the battle is about who gets what, how the huge pie is split. Mayweather is looking for a slight edge and might even accept parity. What he will not accept, at least as of now, is having Oscar, who he beat straight-up, getting more money than he does.?

The insider said that he believes Mr. Smooth, a/k/a Big Al Haymon, will be able to satisfy his both fighters with a package that both of them can sign off on. Mayweather has demanded a guarantee of over $20 million and that does not sit well with DeLaHoya.

?Floyd is only saying he will not fight in 2008 because he sees nothing huge on the horizon. While that may be true, you can easily go back to what worked so well before and that is Chapter II. The rematch is an instant seller?

Stay tuned?
