Alvarez discussed the threats posed by Jacobs, whilst appearing to dampen talks of a trilogy fight with Gennady Golovkin.
?We knew he was going to be a difficult fighter, but we did things the right way,? he told DAZN after the scores were read.
?For me, we?re done, [on Golovkin] but if the people want another fight, we?ll do it again, and I?ll beat him again.
?That?s what I was born for, to fight, to defend what?s mine, and I?ll fight anyone.?
ROUND TWELVE: The final round begins with Alvarez landing a strong left hook.
Both fighters stand toe-to-toe and engage, neither wanting to take a step back.
Half a minute into the round, Jacobs slips badly and the referee is forced to mop up sweat on the canvas. Immediately the pair walk each other down and engage again.
Alvarez lands an impressive combination as Jacobs looks to hold on, both men refusing to give an inch. Both men land big punches on the other, as fans beg for one more round.
The fight goes to points as both men celebrate.
ROUND ELEVEN: Alvarez increases the workrate and is using his jab a lot more now.
Despite being caught and slowing down, he is still using his jab well to defend against Jacobs, rather than to build combinations.
Jacobs throws a cluster of punches in the final 30 seconds of the round, as it seems he could have left it too late to make his way back into the fight.
ROUND TEN: Jacobs pins Alvarez to the ropes and lands a flurry, before engaging in the centre of the ring.
Referee Tony Weeks pulls the pair apart, however, and demands that they box at range.
He seems to be nonplussed by the power of Alvarez, and is moving forward a lot more as the rounds go on.
Canelo will still be happy with his early work, but Jacobs is certainly asserting himself more and more on the fight.
ROUND NINE: Jacobs lands a big left hand on Alvarez after taking a shot of his own.
The American is enjoying himself a lot more as the fight goes on, as he appears to have Alvarez on the back foot at times.
Alvarez landed some good clean shots on the IBF champion, but seems to have stopped throwing the jab at all.
