Manny Pacquiao is his name, and boxing is his game. This little warrior creates excitement each time he steps into the ring. With a huge fan base of what can be described as a mini Muhammad Ali following, the Philippine people follow, support, and embrace him as many of the African American people did with Ali in the 60’s and 70’s. In both our respected countries, legends and stories abound on these fighters.
Many times during the last couple of years I have been asked on various TV shows why are so many champions in boxing unknown? Very simple! They are unknown because the fans are not out there supporting them, attending their fights and spreading the word as they should. This is especially true in the lower weights and has to stop.
How do we raise the fighters we all love and respect to a higher plateau? First of all, we follow them from their very first fight. Spread the word on them, and encourage them when they are still local to always improve their skills and stay dedicated.
As they make the step up the ranks by winning the minor belts, then coming to their end of the rainbow with a title shot, we have to be there all the steps of the way. This is what a true fan does, and the PI people are holding a class called Boxing Fan 101 for Manny “Pac Man” Pacquiao fans with final exams scores of 100% each time out.
