Sources at HBO tell Boxingconfidential.com that the prremium cable network is ready to March into into the first quarter of 2008 with a strong lineup of fights.
One Home Box Office Only (HBOO) suit informs that the network, which tried so hard to match willing dance partner and WBO interim lightweight champion Michael ?Rocky? Kastidis with his mandatory foe, the triple-belted 135-pound and undefeated beltholder Juan Diaz on Feb. 9, is now plugging the Awesome Aussie into a fight with WBC interim lightweight titleholder Joel Casamayor on March 22.
The promoter of the show is Golden Boy and the site is TBA at this point. So, the way the TV calendar is shaping up for March, you will not be forced to watch college hoops. Showtime kicks the month off March 1 with Vazquez-Marquez III, continuation of the perpetual war between those two.
If current plans stay in effect, HBO bounces back March 8 with unbeaten lightweight ruler and glamour puss Juan Diaz defending against perennial contender Nate Campbell in Cancun along with the Oleg Maskaev-Sam Peter WBC heavyweight title bout.
The Big Kahuna for March comes March 15 when He Who Must Not Be Named (hint: Pinoy idiol, just turned age 29) challenges WBC super featherweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez. That one is on PPV.
