CONDES FILES COMPLAINT VS. JARO

BELEAGUERED world minimumweight champion Florante Condes has formally filed a complaint against estranged Filipino handler Aljo Jaro last Monday at the Games and Amusements Board (GAB).

Condes has been at odds the past few weeks with his longtime benefactor involving an uncertain amount of fight money.

In a recent interview with SportsChat, Condes admitted that he is already fed-up with the way his career is being managed by Jaro especially after the Filipino world champion learned just recently that Jaro?s wife Alice is actually his registered manager.

Tuesday morning, SportsChat checked on the documents with the GAB thru boxing chief Nasser Cruz who also confirmed that a complaint was logged in with the chairman?s office. Cruz also confirmed that Alice is the registered manager of Condes.

?Actually promoter si Jaro and si Alice ang manager,? said Cruz.

Cruz however declined to provide details of the complaint since Condes went straight to the office of GAB chairman Eric Buhain who was not around yesterday.

?Normal na talaga dito ang ganyang problema. Even mga six-ounders may mga ganyang kaso. We?re just hoping that everything will end up amicably kasi sayang naman at world champion na si Condes,? said Cruz.

A source contacted by SportsChat however disclosed that Condes is asking the GAB to rescind their managerial deal.

In the complaint, Condes claims that apart from getting his co-manager?s share from the fight purse, Jaro allegedly gets half of Condes? net pay.

Under their original agreement, Jaro and co-manager Dante Ortiz splits the 33% managerial cut while former world champion Morris East gets 10% as trainer.

?Masama ang loob ni Florante kasi dun sa naiwan na 57%, kalahati lang ang ibinibigay ni Aljo dahil dapat daw bawasan pa yung mga ginastos niya kay Florante,? said the source who is a close friend of the fighter.

Condes (22-3-1, 20 KO?s) won the International Boxing Federation (IBF) 105-lb crown from local boy Muhammad Rachman via a close 12-round split verdict last July 7 at the RCTI TV Studio in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Condes will stake his crown against Mexican challenger Raul ?Rayito? Garcia on February 16 in Baja California Sur in Mexico.

Ranked #6 by the IBF, Garcia is undefeated in 22 bouts in carrying a record of 21-0-1 with 15 KO?s. He turned pro in July 2004 and fought all of his bouts exclusively in Baja California Sur.

?Nag-eensayo na ako ngayon pero palipat-lipat muna ng gym,? said Condes who is training under East. ?Sa January ang alis namin para hindi maging problema yung adjustment sa Mexico.?
