Manny Pacquiao is due for yet another huge payday.
The reigning WBA (Regular) welterweight, who is estimated to be worth somewhere around $190 million (over ₱10 billion), will add more zeroes to his immense wealth once the dust settles in his upcoming bout against challenger Adrien Broner this Saturday, January 19 (Sunday, January 20 in Manila).
The bout marks the champ?s return fight in US soil for the first time since he scored a unanimous-decision win over Jessie Vargas at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas in 2016. The impending clash will also air on primetime networks like Showtime PPV and Fox? which would no doubt further fatten the fight?s hefty purse.
Now at 40 years old, the pound-for-pound boxing great still accumulated a $20 million (over ₱1.5 billion) payday in his recent fight against Lucas Matthysse in July. Pacquiao also netted roughly the same amount in his rematch with Timothy Bradley, while earning $4M (around ₱210M) and $10M (over ₱525M) against Vargas, and Jeff Horn, respectively.
With this bout expected to be a prelude to a potential mega-payday rematch against Floyd Mayweather Jr., most pundits believe Pacquiao will most probably collect a similar figure to his last fight. Current PPV rates in the USA, however, currently costs $79.99 (₱4,204), which may boost those numbers even more.
Broner, on the other hand, has never fought in the main event of a pay-per-view and has never even come close to the immense purses that Pacquiao has earned in his career. The challenger reportedly earned just around $1M in his last scrap with Mikey Garcia. But against a legend like Pacquiao, Broner might be looking at an easy eight-figure payday.
Ticket prices, meanwhile, are expected to range from $100 (over ₱5,000) up to $1500 (roughly ₱78,000).
