QUEBEC ? Blainville boxer Adonis Stevenson has been put in an medically induced coma after being knocked out Saturday night in his light heavyweight title fight in Quebec City.
The Journal de Montr?al first reported this development. RDS then revealed doctors had indicated to promoter Yvon Michel the next 48 hours will be crucial.
Stevenson was taken to Quebec?s H?pital de l?Enfant-J?sus, which specializes in neurosurgery and head trauma. When he arrived, he had serious concussion symptoms.

Placed under observation for at least six hours, it appears his condition deteriorated to the point where he was placed in a medically induced coma.
While it has not been explained why this procedure was done in Stevenson?s case, it is sometimes used to reduce pressure on the brain in cases of hematoma or cerebral hemorrhage.

Oleksandr Gvozdyk stopped Stevenson at 2:49 of the 11th round to take his World Boxing Council light heavyweight title.
The 41-year-old Stevenson was put on a stretcher after the bout and left the Videotron Centre in an ambulance.
The Montreal-based fighter was making his 10th title defence since winning the belt against Chad Dawson in 2013 and was ahead on two of the judges? cards and tied on the third when he was stopped.
