Commander Jonathan V. Zata, the Director of the Naval Public Affairs Office, said the honor was given to Ancajas, following the successful defense of his International Boxing Federation (IBF) super flyweight crown against Mexican Alejandro Santiago Barrios in Oakland, California, U.S.A., last September 30, 2018.
Zata said Ancajas was awarded with a medallion upon his arrival, before he was given ah honorary ride on the military jeep ?white carabao?.
Sailors and Marines lined up the streets, waving flaglets, while Ancajas made his way to Acero Hall for the welcome ceremony.
Leading the crowd to welcome the champ were Defense Secretary Delfin N. Lorenzana and Navy Flag Officer In Command, Vice Adm. Robert A. Empedrad.
?This welcome honors manifest the Navy?s recognition of its outstanding personnel who embodies the core values of the organization, and brings honor and pride to the flag, and the Filipino people,? Zata said.
