Vic Darchinyan?s agent says his performance against Federico Catubay was the perfect preparartion for the power-punching Aussie to stop Filipino Z Gorres in their world title eliminator in Cebu City on December 2. Darchinyan received worldwide criticism for taking 12 rounds to stop a fighter who had been blasted out in three by stablemate Hussein Hussein. But Darchinyan?s agent Angelo Hyder says he was very happy with the Catubay win and predicts Darchinyan will be 100 per cent primed to detonate against Gorres. “I thought he did everything he set out to do against Catubay,?? Hyder said. “He took his time, worked on different punches and most importantly he didn?t load up and telegraph punches like he had done in previous fights. “I think Vic will be razor sharp for the Gorres fight.?? Hyder said he was unhappy about Darchinyan?s decision to fight Gorres in the Philippines. “I would have been much happier if the fight was in Sydney,?? he said. “But there will be neutral judges appointed by the IBF so we know we will get a fair shake.?? “Vic doesn?t care where the fight is held because he plans to knock Gorres out. He is very confident of overpowering Gorres. “But he?s also aware that Gorres will probably fight 30 per cent harder in front of his home crowd. “Vic will have to give the performance of his life to overcome that.?? Hyder said the decision to accept the offer to fight in Cebu City was strictly a business decision. “Vic was the one who said `take the fight,?? Hyder said. “He realised it was great money and he figures he can win the fight anywhere.?? The winner of the Darchinyan-Gorres fight will face Russian Dmitri Kirilov for the IBF super-flyweight title.
